Pick one for the top of your screen

Faces, the things everyone's posting about, protective charms from home and a few old favourites. Hover a charm for a little celebration, tap it to hang it above.

Running in under a minute

  1. Download one file

    pendu.py is the whole app. There's nothing to install beyond what Ubuntu already has.

  2. Run it

    A Drishti Bommai drops in at the right corner of your screen and starts to sway.

  3. Right-click the charm

    Change the charm, rope, size or corner, or set it to start when you log in.

Real rope physics

The rope has weight and the charm is heavier, so it swings, overshoots and settles the way a real one does.

Stays out of your way

Only the charm catches clicks. Everything around it passes straight through to the window underneath.

Your own picture

Choose any PNG, JPG or SVG and it hangs and swings like the rest. Transparent backgrounds look best.

Four ropes, four sizes

Golden thread, silver chain, neon glow or plain cord, from small to huge, in either top corner or anywhere between.

Light on your machine

It pauses when hidden and draws only a small window. You can also hide it for fifteen minutes from the menu.

Sends nothing

No account, no tracking. Your settings live in one small file in your home folder.

Get Pendu

Free. Ubuntu first, with Windows and macOS on the way.

Works on Ubuntu 22.04 and newer with the standard desktop. It needs Python 3 and GTK, which Ubuntu already includes.
